This includes organizing individuals from across campus to ring bells from Thanksgiving until Christmas.
Homecoming Show: On the Friday of NDSU's homecoming week, the culmination of the week's activities is capped off by the Blue Key Homecoming Show. The NDSU Blue Key Homecoming Show is designed to promote school spirit and provide the stage for the crowning of that years King & Queen. Different campus organizations present spirited skits to promote the university and to create excitement for the football game held the next day. Last year over one thousand students attended our Homecoming show to display their "Bison Pride." Proceeds from the ticket sales go to a charity selected by Blue Key.
Service Projects
Big Brother Big Sister: Many of our members participate in the BBBS mentoring program where they are given a younger brother or sister. These members meet with their "littles" on a weekly basis. Valuable relationships are formed that were mutually beneficial to all involved. Activities included visiting the "littles" schools and eating lunch with them, playing with them at recess, helping them with homework, and attending after school functions sponsored by the schools.
Bethany Homes: Bethany Homes is a nursing and assisted living facility in Fargo. An average of six to ten members volunteered weekly to spend time with those living at the home. Activities included visiting with the residents and engaging in recreational activities such as bingo and board games.
Adopt-a-Highway: The Adopt-a-Highway program consists of campus, community, and civic or social groups volunteering to claim a section of highway as theirs. By claiming the section of highway, be are responsible for cleaning the ditches of liter and garbage twice per year. The NDSU Blue Key Adopt-a-Highway is near Mapleton, ND. Blue Key sees this service project both as a bonding experience and a tradition.
